Today, we are delighted to welcome Carolyn Bollaci to the Innovid family as our new managing director of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Carolyn brings highly valuable experience in media, advertising, sales, and Asia-Pacific culture, and we’re thrilled that she has decided to join our team. We had the chance to sit down with Carolyn for a brief Q&A to find out more about her accomplished career and what motivates her.

What sparked your interest in media and technology?
To be honest, I fell into media by accident. I was living in Boston and went for an interview at an agency my friend was working at. I got the job and took to it immediately. Throughout my career, I have always favoured the technology side of media and I have continued to seek out opportunities within it.

What has been your proudest accomplishment?
From a work perspective, up until recently, I was most proud of launching one of the first ecommerce sites, LycosShop, back in the late 90’s. It was so incredible to be part of something like that — creating a new business. Most recently, I’ve been proud of building one of the longest standing adtech companies in Australia.

What is your biggest goal?
I actually have a few big goals. Do good, be a great manager, and keep learning.

Of all the cities you’ve lived in, which one is your favorite and why?
I have lived in New York, Boston, San Francisco, London and Sydney. They all are so very different and have their own culture and lifestyle. But I would have to choose my home town, New York. It is the best of everything. Growing up there was an experience second to none.

What are your hobbies?
Yoga, travelling, cooking, interior decorating, and spending as much time as possible with my son and husband.

What are you most excited about in joining Innovid?
Besides it just being an amazing group of people, I am excited about building again. We are in the beginning stages of how people will consume sight, sound and motion and seeing how mobile will influence all this is where Innovid is at the edge of.

Which brands in Australia or New Zealand do you think are excelling in digital video?
There are a lot of brands doing commercials very well. I would like to see all those brands create an “always on” strategy for those assets which follows the changes in media consumption.

What piece of advice would you give to people just getting started in the industry?
Don’t waste one single moment doing something you hate. This industry is a lifestyle. Be passionate and jump straight in. Try to say yes more than you say no.

What stimulated your interest in the APAC region?
APAC is green fields. The opportunities are endless.
