Hey, it's Chris from Mediaocean, joined by Angelo from Comcast, here on the Mediaocean yacht in Cannes, bringing you another episode of "Yacht Ones," where we pair one spicy wing with one spicy bite.
Angelo, are you ready?
I'm ready. I'm already sweating.
Let's do it. So what's one more heat at this point? You're sweating without biting the wing. So cheers. Here we go.
Cheers. That was more sauce than I thought.
You got a lot of sauce on that one?
A lot of sauce. A lot of sauce.
Wow. All right. Let me try and get my question out before it kicks in too much. That was more than a dot earlier that you gave me.
Fair enough. Oof. You've been on the sell side for about 20 years, career spanning NBC, Disney, and now Comcast.
Yep.
And my gut says during those about 20 years or so, the TV upfront maybe has looked pretty similar.
We're transacting on audiences, right?
Mm-hmm.
Yep. But from what we heard, this year's upfront, pretty different. Outcomes are now becoming table stakes.
And so my question, we'll get your hot take, is this just the natural progression of technology? It's finally available, there's more content and consumers on CTV? Or is it really a reaction to the large social platforms with their flywheel of optimization and outcomes that's a must-have now for the biggest names in streaming to gain share, if not maintain their share?
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
What do you think?
I think big tech has done it incredibly well. However, I go to Camp Inevitable on this subject because I think it's predominantly driven by consumers. Consumers over time have gotten a lot smarter, with access to more of their own ways to get financially educated and savvy, and so their dollar needs to go a lot further.
Okay.
And I think marketers are realizing that very thing. And so for all of us, and we were no different this year at our NewFront presentation introducing Outcomes Plus, it's about creating a simple and really impactful way to prove that every dollar is measuring every impression really meaningfully.
Okay.
So it's the market, it's the buy-side accountability that's driving it, I think, 100%.
Okay.
And we're listening to the feedback from our clients. That's what they want, and in turn, it's delivering things that are important to them.
Awesome. So, I appreciate it.
Thank you.
Thanks for being here. Around my lips are burning. This is awesome.
Awesome. Well, we'll see you next time.
